Tea Timer 1.7

I just released Tea Timer 1.7 which implements a few wishes from you:

  • There’s now a rewind button for resetting an ongoing countdown to its initial value.
  • The timer will be reset to the initial value, not the last pause value, after the alarm.
  • The current widget’s settings will also be saved as default settings for new widgets.

Unfortunately it was not possible (neither with Python nor with Apple Script) to implement a backlink from Growl to Tea Timer to stop the alarm when you click on the Growl notification.

Anyway, Download Tea Timer 1.7 and enjoy!

Hi, this version is displaying a weird bug, where the gadgets places where you add information (textfields, timers, when you press enter or outside the box, still remain selected - all of the boxes, even if I exit and come back to the dashboard.

What happens is that I get left with several white boxes, and the timer stops counting (at least visually I don't see any change, maybe it still is counting internally).

this timer doesn't work after the update it just freezes and stops counting... please fix it i need it for work!

  4. Stefan on July 6, 2010 at 19:37:

@jinx and jules: I haven’t seen this problem yet – neither on my mac with 10.6 nor on another one with 10.5. Could you tell me wich version of OS X you have?

  5. Rachel on July 7, 2010 at 02:06:

I'm experiencing weird behavior, where I'm not able to reset the time, or when I do, it won't pause -- just starts running automatically with no way to stop. I'm running 10.6.

  6. Stefan on July 7, 2010 at 08:16:

    Hi Rachel,

can you tell me what the exact circumstance are? What is the starting time? At which time to you press which button? Anything that could help me to reproduce the problem can be helpful.

    Cheers, Stefan

I have tried downloading and opening about 6 times. I get only an error message that the archive must be damaged. What gives? This little tool is very handy, and I would like to update it. Thx.

    Hi Dena,

the archive from this site works for me.

    Cheers, Stefan

Thank you for a very useful tool!

A multi-timer would be a very nice next step :)

  10. Stefan on July 7, 2010 at 18:55:

@Thomas: You can have multiple instances of Tea Timer, each with different settings and a different time. Is that what you want?

    Cheers, Stefan

I've been having the same issues as Jinx, Jules and Rachel. It's happened where I've started the timer and then realized I meant to set it for a different amount of time. When I attempt to stop (or "pause" really, as this new version has removed the option to stop) the timer after it's already started, I click the hour/minute/second field to change the value. My new value appears, but the timer doesn't "refresh." It seems to continue running from my original setting. Please fix! (Also, I like the added option to "rewind," but not if it means I lose the option to stop the timer!) Thanks! I'm running 10.6.4.

  12. Emily on July 8, 2010 at 01:34:

Also, forgot to mention the tab behavior between the hour/minute/second fields is irregular. Sometimes the values I just typed in to a field reset to zero on tab-out, and other times the timer appears to have accepted the values.

Thanks so much from Florida, USA... love this widget!!

Surprisingly useful widget in a molecular biology laboratory. Really good job out there! I am so excited, so I will say thanks in Chinese: 谢谢!

  15. alex on July 8, 2010 at 12:13:

Now I don't get the growl notifications, but I have the option activated. Why is happening this? thank you

  16. Stefan on July 8, 2010 at 12:23:

@Emily: Thank you for that description. I’ll look into it and see if I can fix it.

    @Caleb: Thx :)

@shore: Hehe, always nice to here of more ways how Tea Timer can be used. Thanks!

@alex: This is already fixed but I haven’t released a new version yet. Wanna fix the other problems first.

    Cheers, Stefan

Thanks for your feedback. You can follow the bug here.

I’ll release a new version that also fixes the Growl bug soon.

  21. Christoph Brincken on July 11, 2010 at 12:14:

Die neue Version ist Schrott. Auch die Updatemeldung ist übermäsig nervig. Ein kleiner Link würde es tun

  22. Helge on July 12, 2010 at 10:07:

Ganz meiner Meinung, das eine Update Meldung die ganze App blockiert ist nervig. Ansonsten nettes Tool ;-)

  23. Stefan on July 12, 2010 at 10:24:

Die Update-Meldung kommt vielleicht einmal im halben Jahr und mit einem Klick ist sie weg …

Werd aber nochmal drüber nachdenken, wie man es ggf. anders machen könnte.
